Change of guard on the website: After over 12
years since this website was first established back at the end of the last
century at the end of May it will be time to pass the day to day support on to a
new webmaster. About the last obvious update I have made is the new
opening page and a general tidy up of quite a few other pages including this one
to bring the website up to date for my successor, Brian Sadgrove. I trust
you have enjoyed browsing this wee bit of TR in the e-media and will continue to
do so well into the future. Thank you to
everyone for your input & support |

Christchurch: National Weekend 2012
Another very successful National Weekend and, to all accounts, the biggest ever.
With just over 70 TRs gathered together in Christchurch everyone enjoyed a great
extended weekend and, for about 21 teams, a scenic tour across the alps to the
West Coast for 3-4 days afterwards. At times the weather was a little reminiscent
of the last year at Wanganui with the odd part of the journey in cloud across
the Akaroa hills but that just added to the overall experience. A great
thank you to Dave & Jenny Tong and the Canterbury team for organising such a
great weekend and the tour to the West Coast that followed.

February 2012 Sunday 26th |
Auckland:
Galaxy of Cars at Western Springs Speedway:
This was a fine sunny day with a wide range of classic cars from the early 20th century onwards on show at a new venue. The TR Register and Auckland Triumph car Club put a number of cars on display. Graeme Duff's TR2 managed to catch the eye of the team looking for the best cars at the show and was rewarded with a well earned 3rd place for the day following a 1964 Mercedes Benz 230SL (1st) and a very large 8 cylinder 1929 Packard Victoria (2nd) . This event was Run by the New Lynn Lions Club as a fundraising event - all proceeds from 2012 event will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand. MOTAT (Museum of Transport & Technology) also supported the day. |

Auckland: 2012 NZ Classic Car Weekend (Intermarque Concours d'Elegance.)
Over the years the TR Register Auckland Group has been a strong supporter of
this event and, for 2012, entered a team in the concours d'Elegance competition.
This year two sidescreen TRs, Graeme Duff's red TR2 and Ian Macpherson's green TR3A
braved the somewhat inclement weather to score a well earned 5th place as a
team with
Graeme's TR achieving 4th equal of all 12 cars entered in the whole event.
This was a good result overall and about the best for the Register for about 8
or 9 years.! For more about the 2012 NZ Classic Car Weekend & Intermarque Concours d'Elegance and full details of the results go to http://www.concours.org.nz/ |

This special event was held today in Auckland with perfect weather.
Drivers and navigators in TRs, Sunbeams, Stags and a few others all enjoyed
another excellent day out organised again by Jan & Marian Hendrix. Jan
usually has a few tricks up his sleeve and today's event was no exception much
to the enjoyment of everyone. The rally ended up at a good

June 2011 Saturday 25th Sunday 26th |
North Island - Mid Winter Christmas Dinner. Over the
weekend of June 25th-June 26th about 20 hardy souls gathered in Taihape, the
Gumboot Capital of New Zealand for another very enjoyable experience.
Arriving from Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Wanganui and Wellington on Saturday
afternoon mostly in real TRs but also a few who shall remain nameless in a
TR-BMW and the odd TR-Honda, the team gathered in the traditional spot under the
Big Gumboot for a briefing from Barry & Lynda. Major event of the afternoon was the traditional Taihape sport of "Gumboot Throwing" with some interesting results .. some of the gumboots made quite a bit of altitude but not so much distance! Later everyone regrouped at the Gretna for some well earned refreshment before dinner. On Sunday Barry & Lynda led the convoy on a scenic tour around this very hilly region before a farewell lunch under the DC3 at the Mangaweka International Airport Cafe. Thanks Barry & Lynda for
yet another very enjoyable weekend. |

quite a lot of attention from the judges, Robert's TR5 was soaked when the
irrigation system for the adjacent golf green burst into life .. an event not
foreseen in the organisers planning.

North Island Mid-winter Christmas Dinner
In spite of the weather about 20 keen members from all around the North Island -
Auckland, Wellington, Napier, Wanganui gathered again at the Gumboot capital of New
Zealand - Taihape for an early mid-winter Christmas Dinner. Saturday
afternoon ended up at the Gretna Hotel as the rain poured down outside but the
dinner that evening was great. On Sunday morning a burst of retail therapy at a
nearby woollen outlet and then a drive to River Valley Lodge located in a valley
on the Rangitikei River about 32km east of Taihape for an excellent lunch before
setting off for home. .. This looks like becoming an annual event. A very special tanks to Barry & Lynda for arranging another enjoyable weekend.

| 16th May | Auckland: On another pleasantly fine and sunny autumn Sunday a group of Auckland members ventured north to the Puhoi Pub for lunch is the sun. Amongst quite a selection of classic cars, bikes and trikes the lunch, the afternoon and the refreshments were enjoyed by everyone. | ||

A great run with Jan's impeccable tulip diagrams to follow, a simple time
trial and a few cunning tricks as well just to keep everyone on their toes.
The event started from the Brigham Restaurant in West Auckland, navigated
around quite a few roads that many of us had never seen before before
returning to the same restaurant for an excellent lunch. Jan and his
team organised another excellent event that will leave everyone looking
forward to the next one. Thank you.
